Special $1,702 Payments Coming in June 2025 for Eligible Residents

In June 2025, many people living in Alaska will get a special payment of $1,702. This money comes from the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD), a fund set up by the state using money made from oil and gas sales.

This fund pays out money every year to folks who fit certain rules about living in Alaska and following the law.

The total amount of $1,702 includes $1,403.83 as the standard share everyone gets, plus an extra $298.17. This extra bit is to help out with the high energy bills people in Alaska face.

The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation said that people who asked for this money in 2024 or before and were approved but haven't been paid yet will see this money in their bank accounts by June 18, 2025.

Getting this money helps not only the families who receive it but also boosts the local economy. Even though Alaska itself doesn't tax this money, the IRS does count it as taxable income.

So, who can get this money? To qualify, you need to have lived in Alaska all of the previous year and plan to stay there. You also must have been in Alaska for at least 72 hours during the past two years and not have committed any major crimes recently.

People could apply for this fund from January 1 to March 31, 2025. Applications were accepted online or by mail, with a deadline of April 1. If you met all the requirements, you'll get your cash later in the year.

One piece of advice: don't try to get a REAL ID from outside Alaska if you want to stay eligible for the PFD. Since payments started going out in April and May, the June batch of payments is an excellent chance for qualified residents to get some extra cash.
